BEACHES, RESTAURANTS, SHOPPING, RESTING, BUSINESS. In the very heart of Cannes, 65 boulevard de la Croisette (Palais Miramar). Beaches at the feet of the building. The Martinez hotel is at the first corner on the left, the Carlton hotel is two corners on the right. Palais des Festivals is a 5 to 10 min. walk. Port Canto is a 3 min. walk. Building has a front desk with a guardian open 24/24 hours, elevators, and provides full security (cameras). Public areas have been entirely renovated in 2009. Apartment is 65 SM, 2 rooms (1 bedroom + 1 dining/living room), accomodations for 4 persons, air conditionning, jacuzzi bath, free access to the internet... decorated in the romantic Provençal style.

LOCATION

The Palais Miramar was an art deco hotel (such as the Carlton and the Martinez) before being sold in apartments in 1946. The Miramar terrace has been renovated and provides since April 2008 new fashion luxury shops. Its public areas will begin to be renovated in November. Front desk open 24/24 a day, allows to get keys at any time. 2 elevators. Because of its central location, a car is not needed. There is also the bus n° 8 stop just at the Miramar`s feet. Bus 8 is driving all along La Croisette from the Palm Beach to the Suquet and the Plages du Midi. For the guests coming by car : you will find parking places everywhere around the Miramar (paying or non paying). Possibility to book a garage if available behind the Miramar. For those who want to drive around, there are 2 car renting offices next street.

The Miramar is beachfront. On the beach, you will find a restaurant `Le Rado` (see the pic) open all year long from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm (excepting from 15 November to 26 December). They provide seats facing the sea and serve delicious dishes at a very reasonnable price.

APARTMENT

The apartment is providing full comfort for holidays as well than for business trips. For business trips, we recommend it for 1 or 2 guests. The apartment was decorated in the Provençal style and is very romantic. It is spacy and calm.

Area description:

Life on La Croisette is very exciting and very simple : seaside is providing beaches, restaurants and a wonderful view on the bay ; All along the other side stand the most famous international brands, top restaurants, cafes and terraces, casinos at the Carlton and Martinez Hotels. Life on La Croisette never stops : from summer to winter, it provides the same magic easy and cool life. Everybody meets on La Croisette : walking along and having a rest on the famous blue seats facing the Mediterranean is almost mystic.
The also famous shopping street `rue d`Antibes` is begining at a 2 minutes walk from the Miramar. Port Canto where the beautiful yachts are moored is a 5 minutes walk from the Miramar.

The city of Cannes is providing numerous buses to allow you to visit the town : the ones driving on La Croisette and the seafront during spring and summertime are roofless. The free `Elo` bus will stop to pick you up anywhere in the city, you just need to shake your hand ! You will discover old and typical mediterranean quarters such as Le Suquet, local Provençal fairs and antique markets on the `Place des Platanes`, the `Vieux Port` and a wonderful vegetable and flower market `le marché Forville`.

. If you want to visit some other great places along the coast, there is also a very good train service. You will also be able to visit some towns such as Grasse (worldwide capital for fragrances), Mougins, Vallauris (worldwide famous potteries with Jean Marais) with regular buses. For art lovers, you will be pleased to discover the Picasso Museum in Antibes, the Chagall Museum in Nice, the Matisse Museum in Vence, the Maeght Foundation in Saint Paul de Vence and the Fernand Léger Museum in Biot. During summertime, you will also find a variety of boat excursions with a departure from Cannes to Antibes, Saint Tropez, Sainte Maxime, Port Grimaud, San Remo (Italia).

Fantastic location - right in th heart of Cannes, very clean and very helpful landlord.The bad news - communal areas in very poor condition, family upstairs had drunken brawls at 2.00 every morning, no views from the windows other than other apartments, and workmen down below started their drills at 7.00 every morning. Overall not a good experience

Landlord reply: Sorry for the noise, I guess some renovations took place outside.. This is usually very quiet and even more during winter time. For the guests that had rent the apartment upstairs (there is no family living there the year around), you should have used the telephone at the entrance of the apartment, which is directly connected to the guardian at the front desk. He will have gone upstairs and have them stopped. And please, do inform me during your stay if something is wrong because I will try my best to solve it.

Some restauration took place during the week - so in and out of the building was noisy and difficult - but otherwise VERY nice place - I will be back!

Very very good location on the seafront. Building itself is a bit rundown - the common areas could do with some renovation. Apartment itself was fine, no complaints.

Lovely apartment in an old art deco building. The public areas are very shabby and faded which is a shame, although I understand that these are due for renovation and refurbishment next year.

Landlord reply: Yes, public areas indeed do not match the overall standing of the building. The Miramar has its own luxury shops gallery now (since April 2008) and renovation could not begin before this work has ended.
